Our current relationship began in 1999 when Steve Smith, who had been General Manager of Walnut Hill Wrecker since 1990, purchased Walnut Hill Wrecker, together with a couple business partners, from Bill Caudle, the founder and owner since 1963. The current WHW Towing Companies were born. In 2000, Steve Smith, Rick Chron and partners began negotiations and in May of 2001, WHW Towing Companies became the owners of Lewis Towing of Texas in Plano, and Cornish Wrecker in Fort Worth. Lewis Towing of Texas was renamed Signature Towing and WHW Towing companies became the only towing company able to timely service the entire Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex with a single phone call. In September of 2008, the WHW ownership partnered with United Road Towing, Inc, a privately held company which is the largest towing company in the nation. Rick Chron and Steve Smith were appointed the General Manager and Assistant General Manager of towing operations, respectively.
