The SJSU Precision Flight Team is a student run organization that participates in an intercollegiate competition against other US university flight teams. Competition events include both ground and flight events. Ground events include Aircraft Identification, Computer Accuracy using an E6B slide rule computer, and Simulators using instruments only. Flight Events include Power On/Off landings (trying to land on a line on the runway), Navigation (flying a specific route and being scored based on estimated vs. actual fuel burn & time), and Message Drop (dropping a container from 200 feet above ground level at cruise speed trying to hit a target on the ground). The SJSU Precision Flight Team holds ground practice every Friday from 4-8pm in the Industrial Studies building Club Room IS216A. Flight practices are held Saturday mornings, usually meeting at Reid-Hillview Airport’s terminal building.
