Small Town Records is Duke University's student-run record label and recording studio. We offer free recording time to any Duke-affiliated student, along with marketing and music consulting. In addition to that, we sign artists with outstanding music potential and drive. Though pairing them with a well-rounded team (a finance manager, public relations manager, social media coordinator, etc.), we are able to help them solidify their music platform and succeed in the musical community. Our current signed artists are the following: -D i a d e m- Experiment. Change Direction. Renew. Channeling the likes of Florence and the Machine, Ellie Goulding, and Lykke Li, STINA has been inventing and renovating a new sound for the past year - one that is subtle yet powerful; calm yet dynamic. To capture the beauty of such contradictions found everyday, Stina combines lush harmonies and electronic overlays with the utmost simplicity. After releasing her first single "Trouble" in May of 2013, Stina has received wide acclaim for achieving a sound that is compelling and uniquely her own. -M o b i u s- Formed within the members’ first semester of their freshman year at Duke University, Mobius is a funk rock quartet on the rise in the Durham music scene. Consisting of vocalist Ethan Dunn, guitarist Dylan Gleit, bassist Mike DeVito, and drummer Henry Sosa, Mobius incorporates elements from rock and roll, funk, progressive rock, and even dance genres to deliver a punchy, tight, unique style of rock with an undeniable groove. The band’s debut EP entitled “One Hit Wonder” has gained the attention of many, and marks the beginning of a chain of many more releases to come during the band’s time at Duke. Mixing meaningful lyrics with light rock rhythms, their first stride into the musical community was taken. After three years of musical growth and lineup changes, the band currently features frontman Alex Starr's gritty vocals on top of a style that has been described as "the mutant offspring of a foursome involving OAR, Sublime, State Radio and The Expendables." He, along with lead guitarist Justin Budlow, create soaring guitarmonies, with Ian Singleton providing monster foundations on bass, Tyler Matte utilizing thunderous metal-inspired theatrics on drums, and Julian Jacobson blasting the dulcet, trance-like tones of the tenor saxophone to round out the band's sound. Ranging from upbeat ska rhythms to metal-infused reggae jams, Point Break will smack you in the face, leaving you begging for another round. "Coming Up For Air," Point Break's first full-length album, was released in April 2011; their second studio album, "Changing Linens", was released on April 19, 2012.
