Why Should You Be Interested? 1.You would be honoring the memory of our forebears who inspired ideals for the founding of our great Constitutional Republic. 2.You would enter into the fellowship of people who share a common history and ancestry in the passengers of the Mayflower. 3.By joining the Society, your genealogical record would be filed in a secure place. 4.With your record on file with the Society, it would be easier for your descendants to establish their genealogical lines. 5.Through the programs of the Society, history can be made to come alive for you. 6.This is an era of mobility. If you should move to a new locality, your membership can be transferred. This would enable you to meet new people more quickly and easily, and thus become better acquainted in your new home. 7.As a member, you would receive the Arizona Society newsletter, the Mayflower Log, three times a year, providing historical articles as well as society news, and the General Society Mayflower Quarterly, a magazine providing current information and views on Pilgrim history.

The Society of Mayflower Descendants in the state of Arizona is a non-profit hereditary society dedicated to preserving the history and noble ideals of our Mayflower ancestors. Our Society, founded in 1955, currently has a membership of more than 400 adult members and nearly 200 junior members. To be eligible for membership, you must show proof of descent from at least one of the passengers on board the Mayflower. Millions of individuals have descended from these brave souls. We purpose to join together people who share this heritage and carry on the memory of our Pilgrim ancestors.

Phoenix Pride unites and engages individuals and organizations to empower, educate and support the Arizona LGBTQ Community. THE HISTORY OF PHOENIX PRIDE In 1981, a group of gay & lesbian activists organized the first Pride march thru the streets of downtown Phoenix to the state Capitol building. It was a politically focused march to bring awareness to gay rights issues in Phoenix. Nearly ten years later, a group of volunteers joined together to coordinate the annual Pride festival. This committee, best known as the Phoenix Lesbian and Gay Pride Committee, Inc. helped establish a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization known today as Phoenix Pride. The organization was created as an educational non-profit to continue to educate and promote issues that affect the LGBTQ community in metro Phoenix. Under the leadership of Phoenix Pride, there has been an annual march, festival, parade or celebration in metro Phoenix for more than 35 years. The organization is a leader in the metro Phoenix LGBTQ community. Over the past ten years, the organization has been able to make significant contributions to other LGBTQ focused non-profit organizations and has awarded scholarships to deserving LGBTQ individuals continuing their education. It is the goal of the organization to continue developing community programs to benefit the LGBTQ focused non-profit community and to continue to raise public awareness about the LGBTQ community in hopes to eliminate homophobia, transphobia and discrimination still very much prevalent some 35+ years later.

Food for the Hungry is a Christian relief and development organization of over 2,000 members that are active in more than 26 countries. Recognizing Biblical principles and Christ's passion for the poor, Food for the Hungry has sought to bring sustainable transformation to countries around the world since 1971. In recent years, this vision has brought relief to such far-reaching places as Sudan, helping restore lives through life-skills education after civil war brought brokenness and confusion. And while responding to disasters as they happen, Food for the Hungry pursues ongoing long-term development programs, enabling communities to meet their own needs. The complexities of transformational relief and development work compel Food for the Hungry to be a multi-faceted, collaborative organization which encompasses initiatives from child development through individual sponsorship to foreign aid advocacy through government lobbying.
