Learn medical-survival skills directly from a practicing medic through this Alaska wilderness-survival school.
Alaskans know 911 isn’t always a five-minute ambulance ride away. Sometimes it’s impossible to get professional care quickly. If you spend any time in the bush, you must know how to survive medical problems with no expert care. With Solace of Safety, you’ll learn medical-survival techniques directly from an Alaska medic. Let us help you thrive in the wilds of beautiful Alaska. Courses include: Wilderness Medical Course for the Healthcare Provider, Disaster Medical Survival, Aircraft Incident Medical Survival, Hunter / Fisherman Wilderness Medical Survival, and a course specifically for the outdoor woman (called Wild Women). Please see the website for more info. Please read this important disclaimer. These courses are AT YOUR OWN RISK, intended solely for self-help, in times of emergency, when medical help is not available. The information in these courses is meant to be used only during times when improvisational, last-ditch efforts are all that is possible. Course content often assumes that if anyone uses the advice, the person will have no access to regular medical equipment or supplies. The instructor always assumes that the person will not have access to professional medical care. DO NOT USE THIS INFORMATION WHEN YOU CAN GET MORE TRADITIONAL OR PROFESSIONAL CARE. Use the information in these courses at your own risk. They are meant as a public service and represent the instructor’s personal knowledge and beliefs, not to replace your own additional research, common sense or instinct. Medical information changes rapidly, and the instructor cannot guarantee the accuracy or currency of the content. Unlike prescription medications and care from doctors, much of the advice in these courses has not been tested in scientific studies. Some of it may be secondhand and drawn from folk remedies. It may not be foolproof. In addition, even if it works for most people (though the instructor makes no claims that it does), it may not be appropriate for everyone, such as infants, children, pregnant women, elderly people and people with certain diseases or disorders, or who are taking certain medications. Further, using this advice may not cause the hoped-for results—including saving a life. Karen Hubbard and other people who are associated with these courses are not responsible for unsatisfactory results, including scarring; maiming; infection; death; and any diseases, injuries or other disorders that result from or are made worse by using information from courses offered. The content throughout these courses is meant to increase your knowledge of medical developments and beliefs. It cannot take the place of regular professional health care. Consult your health care provider about individual concerns.
