The Heart of Tucson's Glass Art Community. SGS invites you to explore Glassblowing, Flameworking, and Kiln working through educational classes and events. We teach several distinct types of glassmaking: furnace glassblowing, flameworking, fusing, Stained Glass, mosaics and coldworking techniques. We also teach beading classes so you can finish the jewelry projects you made in class! We employ a young and knowledgeable staff of enthusiastic instructors, as well as bring in internationally acclaimed Visiting Artists for our Specialty Workshops and Seminar Series.

Sonoran Glass School (SGS) is a 501(c)(3), non-profit educational organization dedicated to promoting the appreciation and awareness of glass as a visual arts medium. Our mission is to enrich our community by providing a supportive environment in which glass artists, students, and enthusiasts can learn, create, and share knowledge. We aim to educate our greater community about glass making and glass art through classes, workshops, and community events.

General Info
Founded in 2001, SGS has the unique position of being the premier public access glass arts educational facility in the desert southwest. Programming includes classes in: furnace glassblowing, lampworking, glass fusing, stained glass, mosaics, kiln casting and coldworking. We have a consistent team of gifted instructors, as well as a variety of world renowned visiting instructors. Most classes at the Academy are limited to 8 students, allowing for maximum one-on-one attention. SGS offers glass making instruction for people age 5 and upwards. We aim to increase our student's knowledge of glass as an arts medium, as well as to boost their confidence, creativity, and artistic capabilities. In partnership with the University of Arizona and Pima Community College, we offer college credits in glass arts. We also strive to host one accredited, subsidized Tucson area high school program each year for underprivileged youth.Reviews for Sonoran Glass School
