You have to love the smell of hot beeswax on a cool winter day. A nice lady wants to buy a couple pounds of clean, local beeswax and who am I to say no? Do you realize how special pure beeswax is? They say it takes about 7 pounds of honey for bees to make 1 pound of wax. If we translate that into money. currently the reports say that liquid honey is going for a regional average of about $6.00 per pound of honey. If it costs bees a rough 7 pounds of honey, that means it is worth 7 x $6.00 per pound. In other words, if I were to price beeswax this way it would cost you $42.00 for each 1 pound of pure, local beeswax. No, I don't charge that much. But next time you hear someone complain about the price of a beeswax candle, let them know how cheap they are really getting it.
Fall is happening and we have to try to get our bees as fully fed and as populated and healthy as possible going into winter. We need to make sure all the hives can come out in the spring alive and healthy and just booming with bees so that we can make more hives and lots more honey with them.
How's everyone doing? You got honey? I would like to say that even though my honey is gone, I got the hookup for fresh honey from all around the Omaha area. I happen to know a few local beekeepers. I can hook you up.
