Description

South Plains Wildlife Rehabilitation Center Inc. (SPWRC) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation of native species on the South Plains of Texas. Wildlife is accepted without regard to species, size, or popularity with the human race. Our mission is two-fold: 1. To provide humane care and rehabilitation to all species of orphaned, ill, injured and displaced wildlife. The goal of our rehabilitation program is to release these animals back to their natural wild habitats. 2. To provide environmental education, using a rational approach toward appreciation and conservation of natural resources for future generations. The emphasis is on wildlife as a natural resource.

General Info

Founded in 1988 by Carol Mitchell Lee, the South Plains Wildlife Rehabilitation Center, Inc, (SPWRC) is the only licensed wildlife rehabilitation center within several hundred miles of Lubbock, Texas. SPWRC admits approximately 2,500 wildlife orphans and casualties annually. Rehabilitation is accomplished by operating 365 days a year and through the careful care administered by our WONDERFUL VOLUNTEERS! We are required to hold state and federal permits, but are not funded by either regulatory agencies. How much does it cost to keep our doors open to wildlife? With an annual budget of $95,000, our source of funding comes from grants, private individuals, interest groups, newsletters, fundraisers, and education programs. We are a 501(c)(3) IRS designate non-profit organization; therefore donations can be tax credited to the fullest extent allowed by law.
