My general surgical practice started in 2001 at Southport and then Southport Bariatrics began in 2006. The general surgery practice offers surgical repair of all types of hernias, gallbladder and appendix removal. I specialise in the more complicated abdominal surgeries such as gastric, adrenal, spleen, liver and pancreatic resections, as well as endocrine surgery for thyroid and parathyroid medical conditions. Southport Bariatrics specialises in helping people lose weight surgically and keep it off. With a third of Australians now overweight and patients acquiring “metabolic syndrome” (Diabetes Type I and Type II, Hypertension, Hyperlipidaemia) and other conditions like obstructive sleep apnoea and mobility issues, we offer a range of surgical options which will significantly lessen or resolve these medical issues. We offer a multi-disciplinary approach to weight loss surgery incorporating dieticians, cardiologists, endocrinologists, psychologists and any other relevant speciality into our overall well-being approach for our patients. Pre-operative work-up may vary depending on individual medical conditions. We attend national and international conferences to keep up with the trends, techniques and latest data in terms of results and outcomes for weight loss surgery. We offer the following four types of surgery: Sleeve Gastrectomy Omega Loop (Mini) Gastric Bypass Roux-en Y Gastric Bypass Revisional Surgery for Lapband patients (removal and/or conversion to other types of surgery)
