After School Club, Holiday Playscheme and Youth Club for children aged 3 - 16 from the Dundee area who have Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
Spectrum provides after school clubs, holiday playschemes and a youth club for children aged 3 - 16 from the Dundee area. These clubs make a profound difference to the lives of families affected by ASD. The children can access social opportunities in an environment sympathetic to their autism specific needs. This helps them to develop their social skills, become more independent and gain confidence. Parents also face tremendous amounts of stress because they have to give so much time and attention to their autistic child and this often means that they are unable to give enough time to each other or any other children in the family. The time away at the Spectrum provides families with some space to address these issues and so dealmore effectively with the challenges that arise.

Can't believe we are reaching the final week of our summer playscheme, so far it's been hectic, noisy and definately keeping the spectrum team busy and we wouldn't have it any other way. I would like to thank my amazing team for their hard work, humour, sense of fun and all the children for simply being themselves, they are awesome! Lori (slightly frazzled but very happy manager)
Thank you to all parents and carers for returning playscheme letters so quickly. Looking forward to another fun filled summer playscheme. Lori x
Summer playscheme letters will be posted today. Please return your acceptance forms asap. Playscheme starts 7th July and will run for 4 weeks. Lori
Thank you once again to the Dundee Bikers Forum who kindly donated £360 and 70 Easter eggs to Spectrum as a result of their annual easter run. Bev and I were waiting at the finishing point..great moment! Approx 150 bikers took part in this year's run. (Lori)
We had a fantastic playscheme full of fun... thanks to the amazing Spectrum team and Play on Wheels who kept the children entertained. Spectrum is closed next week to give staff a well earned rest. Happy holidays everyone. Lori(Manager)
Looking forward to next week's holiday playscheme...lots of activities planned for all our fantastic kids.
Please remember the AGM tomorrow evening at 7pm. We hope to see you all there.
As Lori has said our AGM did not go ahead yesterday evening as it was so poorly attended. It has therefore been rescheduled for Wednesday 26 March 2014 at 7pm in Mains Parish Church Halls. If the rescheduled AGM does not go ahead no management committee will be elected and the club's services will be suspended. In the first instance this means that the play scheme during the April holidays will be cancelled. The only way to stop this happening is for parents/carers or someone from their family to attend the AGM. Please do not think that someone else will do it - what if they don't?? The AGM lasts no longer than one hour. Please make time to attend.
I am so disappointed that apart from our existing management committee no one else attended the AGM tonight. This meant the meeting couldn't go ahead. Can I remind parents and carers that Spectrum cannot continue without a parent commitee which means the April playscheme is in danger of being cancelled. Another meeting has been scheduled so please ensure a family representative attends. The reality is that Spectrum would cease to operate so on behalf of my hardworking staff team please give up 1 hour to make sure this doesn't happen. Letters will be sent out with details of rescheduled AGM. Lori (Manager)
Spectrum's AGM is on Wednesday 12 March at 7pm in Mains Parish Halls. Please come along and show your support if you value the services that Spectrum provides. We REALLY need a good turnout for this to go ahead and the AGM is an important part of the club's calendar in terms of governance of the club.
