Welcome to Spica Data Recovery services. We recover data from computers, portable hard disks, mobile phones and many other devices. First things first, if you are reading this, it is a possibility that you are dealing with a problematic/failing device. The first thing you need to do is STOP using the device and turn the power off. We work on traditional hard disks and SSD - Solid State Drives, External USB hard drives, USB flash memory, CF, SD and other memory cards, Windows and Apple systems, NAS systems, DVR’s, Multimedia Centres, dash cams, tablets, laptops, mobile phones (including iPhone and Samsung), Single drive and multi drive setups – RAID and tape drives. Common interfaces we are tooled up for include SATA, IDE, SAS, SD, SCSI, Fibre Channel, USB, Serial and many others. Common file systems includes NTFS –Windows, HFS-Apple, FAT12/16/32/ext, NTFS5, UFS1/UFS2, BSD, Solaris, Ext2/3/4 FS Linux, Canon EOS and other camera systems. We deal with logical problems and physical problems such as disk and data errors. We can perform chip-off recovery – we remove the memory chips and read them with specialised equipment. We have a well-equipped lab, with a clean work bench and tools from market leading research companies such as ACE Lab’s PC-3000, DeepSpar and DFL. Many of our tools and procedures are designed and built in house and are not available outside of our lab. When working on a typical job forwarded to us from Australia or overseas, we will diagnose the fault and after consulting with the client we will recover the important files/data and make them available for download. For larger data sets we may copy the data to an external USB drive before sending it back to the client. When assessing if data is retrievable from a device we operate mostly on a no-fix-no-charge policy, with free quotes. In some cases a device may need to be partially repaired before we can assess if the data is retrievable, when this occurs there may be a fee applied. All fees will be communicated and agreed upon before any work commences. The final cost of a recovery job will depend on many factors. These factors could include: the amount of time spent recovering data; the amount of time your device spent in our image extraction machines; the cost of spare parts required to recover data; the type of device; and the urgency of a job. A small job may cost around $100, while a typical HDD with a physical problem could range in cost from $300 to $700. Time taken to recover data can vary. If hardware is intact and we are dealing with a logical problem then it may only take a couple of hours to recover your data. If we need to use chip-off technology and decryption data sets the task can take many days or weeks. A forensic report can often take a week.
