Established in 1984, Standing Room Only seeks to bring invigorating theatre to Columbus. Our productions break cultural and generational boundaries.
SRO’s troupe of professional actors performed original work in its infancy, entertaining audiences at home and overseas. We took home awards, a lot of awards. But SRO isn’t about accolades. We have always believed theatre has the power to affect people and the ability to take them on a journey. Theatre enriches lives. It’s a gift for every generation. Standing Room Only seeks to bring invigorating theatre to Columbus. Our productions break cultural and generational boundaries. We’re proudly inclusive. Accessibility has been a core tenet of our heritage over the last 30 years. In our infancy, we were a pioneering force in the senior theatre movement and we've broadened our reach to transcend generations ever since. We represented the United States at an international theatre festival in Germany. We even introduced Columbus to deaf theatre with our bilingual adaptation of The Fantasticks in 2003. We get excited thinking about the opportunities that lay ahead of us for the next 30 years. What boundaries will we have broken by 2044? What stories will we have shared?
