SASAC is a volunteer sports and social club at the heart of St. Albans. It was founded as a SCUBA diving club with its own boat, onsite compressor and open air swimming pool but it is much more than just diving, as it has snorkelling, swimming and a thriving social membership that all add to the character of the club. Many snorkelling members joined because of the under-water hockey, AKA octapush. In the 1980’s it took over and renovated the then derelict former city swimming pool and uses it as its clubhouse. The club house has its own bar, common room and a lecture hall that it often uses to host parties and other social gatherings during the year. In the summer months they migrate to the pool-side courtyard that amongst other things hosts the ever popular Friday night barbecues.
