St. Andrew’s Episcopal School offers a challenging, accelerated academic program where children discover daily the joy of learning. Our teachers and staff work together to provide an atmosphere that is conducive to learning, assisting and encouraging each student to reach success as they progress through the curriculum. The atmosphere is one that is nurturing and caring. We never forget that in the course of each day we are molding and shaping young minds and young hearts. As we strive for excellence, our students receive instruction in the core curriculum of reading, language arts, math, science and social studies. Strong writing skills are integrated throughout the curriculum on all grade levels. Students are encouraged to develop excellent work and study habits, to use creative thinking and collaboration as they grow to become independent learners. Resource classes in art, music, technology, science, French, and physical education are experienced weekly as a complement to the core curriculum. Our fully automated library provides a vast array of information at students’ fingertips. Recently with the support and endorsement of the Board of Trustees, St. Andrew’s upgraded its technology program to include new Apple computers in the computer lab as well as four laptop labs available for classroom use. In addition, each classroom is equipped with a Promethean ActivBoard. The introduction of these new educational tools is transforming the way teachers teach and students learn. We are now connecting with the world, well beyond the halls and walls of our school. Each day begins in chapel, which provides the foundation for the spiritual and moral development of each child. At the same time, virtues classes, led by the Head of School, take place in each classroom on a regular basis, underscoring the family values supported by home and school. Beginning in pre-kindergarten and continuing through fifth grade, students at St Andrew’s develop leadership skills that round out their education in mind, body and spirit. A high priority is placed on community service. We teach the importance of stewardship and giving back to the larger community beyond the walls of our school. Numerous projects are carried out throughout the year that support our neighbors in the larger community.
