Established in 1857, the St. Louis Fire Department is the second oldest career Fire Department in the United States, providing fire protection, emergency medical services, technical rescue and public education for the City of St. Louis and the region.

The fire department staffs 36 fire suppression apparatus and 12 ALS medic units and operates from 30 Fire Stations, located throughout the City. In addition to fire suppression and emergency medical services, the St. Louis Fire Department also has specialized units which include: + Aircraft Rescue Firefighting at Lambert-St. Louis International Airport + Haz-Mat Task Force + Marine Operations + Dive & Swift Water Rescue + High-Angle Rope Rescue + Trench & Collapse Rescue The St. Louis Fire Department also believes in and works strongly on community outreach programs.
