REWARDS ASSEMBLIES All pupils will take part in Rewards Assemblies on Friday 19 December so long as they are in uniform - tie, white polo shirt and black trousers/skirt. Lots of fun activities for pupils and staff and the chance to win prizes but, 'you've got to be in it to win it!' 😃😃😃😃

Today we marked the end of another school year with our annual End of Term Awards Ceremony. This was a fantastic afternoon which celebrated the many various successes of our pupils and our school. Our school captains gave excellent and confident speeches and the pupils musical performances were of an extremely high standard. It is always great to see just how much our young people at St Machar Academy achieve. Congratulations and well done to all! Remember that there is still school tomorrow though.

The S2 Truffle Challenge took place on Wednesday 27 May. In the morning the pupils visited Home Economics – where they made the truffles; Art – where they designed the packaging and Business Studies and IT – where they prepared a presentation. The best truffles, packaging and presentation for each class were presented to a Judging Panel in the afternoon. An enjoyable day was had by all and a big thank you to all the staff and pupils involved in the challenge. The winners were 1F with 1E in second place. The winning team along with selected pupils will visit Coco-Ooze to experience what actually goes on inside a Chocolate Factory.
We look forward to our new S5/6 returning to school on Monday 1st June for their induction to the new year. All pupils must go to registration at 8.40am where they will get the programme for the day. All groups for the day will also be displayed on the exam notice board.
Good luck to all S1-S3 participants in St Machar 2015 Sports Day tomorrow! Things have been shaping up nicely during the build up, there has been a very positive vibe in the P.e department with pupils and staff checking the results board to make sure have made it into the events. Let's remember that we ALL play a very important part in making a memorable day! Get down and show your support and make a difference! We will also have a number of pupils from our feeder primaries making an appearance in the relays so let's give them a warm St Machar welcome! And of course....don't miss the staff events....many staff will be dusting off their P.E kit to perform in many events such as the sack race, three legged race, the tug of war.....and course the house relays!!! Things could get quite competitive :) See you all tomorrow! Let's make it a great day!! :)
On Thursday 28 August Ms Sharp (Family Liaison Officer), Mr Mackland (Janitor) and Mr Paul (Depute) will be doing the Ice Bucket Challenge at 1pm in the games field. Donations for Motor Neurone Disease and Alzheimer's Society to gain entry!!!
HELPING YOUR SON/DAUGHTER THROUGH NATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS EVENING - WEDNESDAY 27 AUGUST 7pm. All parents/carers of S4-6 pupils are invited to hear a presentation on all the new qualifications being completed by our pupils this year in the school hall at 7pm. There will also be opportunities to ask questions throughout the evening. Please put this date in your diary to help support your son/daughter.
On Thursday 21 August the University of Aberdeen will deliver a presentation to all pupils able to vote in the Referendum on September 18th. This will be non partisan but will give information to pupils to help make an informed choice. This will be held during the afternoon.

Today the pupils and staff returned from another superb trip to the Ardeche in France. We canoed, cycled, laughed, built rafts, played games and generally had loads of fun in a stunning location, and came back with lots of memories and stories to tell.
The History Department is looking for help with its World War One project. We would like to display any artefacts or war related memorabilia such as newspapers, letters etc. Please get in touch if you can help out.
This morning 35 pupils and 4 teachers set off for the Ardeche in France for a fun packed watersports trip. All good so far, lots of sun, sweets and fun on the bus and everyone in good spirits. Look out France!
Today the annual End of Term Awards Ceremony took place. This was a celebration of the remarkable achievements and talents of the pupils at the school, with an excellent and motivating speech given by ex pupil Rachael Sandison. Congratulations to all the prize winners and all those involved today.
Our new school captains were appointed yesterday. Congratulations to Sam Buchan, Kieran Colville, Megan Rollo and Rachel Reid who will be the 2014/2015 St Machar Academy School Captains.
The Enterprise Fair will take place tomorrow at lunch time in the Junior Social area. There will be a variety of stalls and activities including a photo booth, snail racing, henna painting and slam dunk. Please come along.
A huge congratulations to a group of two S3 and two S4 pupils who came third in the Enterprising Maths competition today. They had to compete in 5 different events including making a poster highlighting all the maths relevant to the Glasgow Commonwealth Games. Coming 3rd out of the entire city is a great achievement, so well done!
Next Wednesday we will be holding our "Countries of the Commonwealth" fair as part of multi-cultural week. We would love to have a piper come along to open proceedings and maybe talk to some of the pupils about bag piping. Can anybody out there in Facebook land help us out?
Well done to the Music and Drama Faculty for another wildly successful Summer Concert. Students and staff performed to a packed house who had turned out to see the magnificent array of talent we have at St Machar.

Our annual Christmas concert took place tonight and was a huge success. Well done to all the performers who were fantastic, and thank you to all who helped out and came along to watch. Great to see so many ex pupils coming back in to support it too!

The Outward Bound group have all arrived safely at Loch Eil. The sun is shining and everyone is looking forward to a fantastic week.
There will be a Parents' Evening on Tuesday 15 September from 6-7pm delivered by Live-N-Learn. A letter has been issued to all S3-6 pupils and those S2 pupils not at Loch Eil. We look forward to seeing as many parents as possible at this evening to support their child's learning - even plenty of time to get to Pittodrie afterwards!!
