OUR HOTEL Located centrally in the heart of Launceston’s CBD,, The Star Bar Cafe and Hotel is a modern boutique restaurant/hotel, located in Launceston, Northern Tasmania and we are the proud winner of the Small Business Champion Awards – Tasmania 2007, 2008 and 2009. Upstairs, enjoy a stay in one of our modern ensuite rooms, which offer single, twin, double and queen rooms. All rooms are fully serviced and in-room breakfast is available upon request (charges apply). Our location in Launceston allows for close access to all services such as public transport systems, airport shuttles, as well as day trip and excursion pick up points are only a short walk away. Our accommodation also provides free WiFi as well as a 10% discount to our restaurant for guests staying with us. While staying with us, also enjoy our downstairs hotel, enter through our heritage listed facade and be welcomed into a modern dining experience. We offer modern Australian cuisine, authentic wood fired pizzas and a selection of Tasmanian best beers and wines are on tap. For the adventurous, why not try one of the Star Bar’s cocktails. In the winter months an open fireplace and natural gas heater creates a cosy atmosphere on those chilly Tasmanian days. HISTORY OF OUR HOTEL - PAST TO CURRENT DAY A long history runs through the Star Bar building, originally constructed from convict brick in the 1800s, the Heritage listed facade has welcomed many a weary traveler. The Star bar was relaunched in 1991 after extensive renovations. Sir Joh Bjelke Peterson opened the night by cooking the very first pizza in the imported Italian wood fire pizza oven. Through a number of owners the ‘Star Bar’ has been a main stay in Launceston, running for over 21 years; with current owner Mr Michael Acquarola purchasing the Star Bar in February 2007.
