Here is note to remember when breaking out the gas powered equipment for the first time this year. Alcohol (ethanol) will absorb water from the atmosphere. Those of you who may have left mixed gas in sheds or outdoor areas that get hot and cold, exposed to rain, or left on the ground can have small traces of water in the container (or fuel tank). You can usually see water separation in gas, but in ethanol, its nearly impossible. It only takes a small amount of water to separate the ethanol from gasoline. You could have a bottom layer of water and ethanol, and the gasoline on top. Depending on where your fuel filter sits you could suck in water and ethanol with no oil mixture (oil stays with the gas). Engines can run on the water-ethanol mixture in most cases. So keep that in mind going into this Spring season. Happy St. Patrick's Day!
