Third time’s a charm for Stilettos On Wheels riders Women taking part in the Stilettos On Wheels women-only mountain bike race for the third time this year will be eligible for a special prize as a reward for their event loyalty. The girls-only event will be held at Stanmer Park, Brighton, on Saturday 6th September and entries are open online now. Event organiser Irene Lachner said: “Stilettos On Wheels bike race has always been about encouraging more women to give mountain bike racing a go in a fun and supportive environment. We know that for some girls Stilettos On Wheels has been their first experience of bike racing and it’s great that people have enjoyed the event and want to come back year on year, so we thought we should offer a special treat for those that have been with us since the start. We do have fantastic sponsors for Stilettos On Wheels - Ana Nichoola clothing, Torq nutrition, Lezyne, Exposure, Trail 42, and Mt Zoom to name but a few – so for those new to the event this year there will also be great prizes for the top five riders in each category, as well as some fun spot prizes. We are looking forward to seeing lots of ladies, veterans and newbies alike, in Stanmer Park in September!” Stilettos On Wheels event offers a two-hour solo race and two and four-hour pairs races, as well as a special category for any riders taking part on singlespeed bikes. For riders who just want a taster of the event there will also be the chance for a Cinderella lap (one lap of the course at any time throughout the event). In the event arena plans are afoot for a range of demo bikes for testing out the latest in women’s mountain bike design, a bike maintenance stand, physio clinic for pre- and post-ride leg rubs, and an expo of women-specific bike kit and other bike related stuff. There will be a cake stand (obviously) and other refreshments on offer for riders and supporters alike. Stilettos On Wheels is a xc mountain bike race for women-only, fun is at the heart of the track design and it aims to provide something challenging for every level of rider, from beginners to expert racers. This year there will only be one race and it will be held in the mountain bikers (not so) secret paradise of the south, Stanmer Park, Brighton on Saturday 6th September.
