Stop the Killing, Embrace Life (STK) is a community action committee dedicated to reducing violence and increasing violence prevention awareness in the city of Pittsburgh. Created in 2015 in response to the surge in Pittsburg homicides as well as losing a sibling(Tiona Jackson) to gun violence. STK has received mass media attention for its impact on the community. STK has replaced traditional local media for citizens looking for information about homicides in their communities, with citizens turning to STK for updates on the names of victims and information on the aftermath of the killings. In less than 2 years since its founding, STK has amassed more than 17,000 followers on social media. Created by Tiffani Monique Walker, Pittsburgh native and CEO of Embrace Life Media, a multimedia company based in Pittsburgh, STK hosts the annual A Mother’s Love event, a celebration of mothers who have lost children to violence, and provides resources and training to promote entrepreneurship in the city of Pittsburgh. To increase awareness of the community violence and to provide resources and education for the families and loved ones of homicide victims.
