We have been getting many alerts from local officials regarding coyotes moving into the area. Here are some tips to help you keep your furry friends safe. 1. Keep your pet's on a short leash while walking. We have seen that pets have been taken off of retractable leashes. 2. Use extreme caution walking or letting pets outside during dusk and dawn hours. That is when coyotes are frequently out and hunting. 3.Avoid thick brush areas and canyon dens when hiking if at all possible.Walking sticks or noisemakers on hand can help as coyotes do not like loud noises. 4. Do not let your pet out of your sight to relieve themselves. Even if you have an enclosed fenced yard, coyotes have scaled fences as tall as 6-8 feet tall to catch prey. 5. Please bring your cats inside as they are a likely target for coyotes. 6. NEVER let your pets interact with coyotes. 7. Do not try to interact or feed coyotes yourself. This also means leaving food outside for your pets. Secure trash containers.

Hello you wonderful people at Stonecreek, the best vet in CA. I wanted to let you know what happened at our house so you could alert your fur parents. 2 coyotes came to our sliding door for the second time this week and this time our Lily slipped out and one of them ran at her. Thank God, my husband yelled and it scared the coyote and got Lily inside but they stayed very close watching to see if she came back out. We ran at them yelling and clapping Very Loudly and they left. We live on the gold course and they walk through everyday, which scares me, but people said, they won' come after a Golden Retriever. And we weren't sure, but they did and we want everyone to know, size has no limits anymore. They are hungry and are going after all animals. It was a very frightening experience to see how fearless they were and we are very lucky to still have our dog, but we are deeply concerned and I hope we can make some changes in our community to protect our animals and small children. If they go after a golden retriever a small child becomes fair game.
