Since 1973, Street School has been the alternative high school of choice when "traditional" high school hasn't been working-and life has gotten in the way.
We are an alternative high school with a therapeutic counseling program. The school's mission is to create a supportive community for students in grades 9 through 12 who have chosen to work toward high school graduation in a non-traditional setting. Street School is a dropout prevention, intervention and recovery program accredited by Tulsa Public Schools and recognized nationally as a leader in dropout prevention. Students choose to attend Street School because they are committed to graduating from high school, to learning and practicing life skills, to resolving substance abuse problems, to dealing with behavioral issues, and to filling the void of support traditionally provided by family.

Every student can learn! And every student should have the opportunity to learn and to achieve a quality of life they desire based on their educational efforts and achievements. Alternative education is needed in all communities - including Tulsa. When students are struggling with family strife, personal/psychological issues, substance abuse, lack of family support or know they are a candidate for dropping out, traditional school can't always support the student. That is when alternative schools - like Street School - are there to intervene, support and help provide a plan. Your financial support of Street School makes an impact where needed most. www.streetschool.org
Street School welcomed representatives from Kalininrad, Russia who work for a youth center called Fund Pchyolka. Their "drop in center" in Kaliningrad is a place youth can go for assistance, direction and participation in skill building classes. Their visit is part of a Russian-US Peer to Peer exchange program. Welcome, Natatlia, Sergey and Varia!
Street School is an alternative high school for at-risk teens. An at-risk teen is less likely to transition successfully into adulthood. Success can include academic success and job readiness, as well as the ability to be financially independent. It also can refer to the ability to become a positive member of society by avoiding a life of crime. Street School works and has been a member of the Tulsa community since 1973.
Today the counseling staff is attending the 11th Annual Professionalizing Youth Work Conference in Tulsa. This is an opportunity for them to network with other youth care professionals, participate in skill-based training and learn ways to transform their approach in working with youth. Their summer is filled with opportunities to ensure Street School provides the best care to the students we serve.#SuccessTPS #StreetSchoolROCKS

Teens are always on the go during the school year. Taking a break over the summer means slacking off and sleeping in. When a teen goes from this go, go, go pace to nothing, it's okay for a day or two, but then they get bored and parents pay the consequences. A bored teen is an annoying teen or worse, one who finds trouble. The easiest way to stop your teen from getting bored is to schedule out her summer days so that they know what is going to happen and can pick and choose what they want to do by LEARNING TO MAKE CHOICES. - Schedule out the summer monthly - find a routine - Create a weekly schedule - Create a daily routine of chores and "to do" - Keep them from getting bored but allow for free time
It will be a blessing for my son to attend here I pray he gets to
Congratulations Mylynn! An anonymous donor donated a "like new" 32" television in April. As an incentive to finish strong, all students who did not miss one day of school during the last six week session were entered into a drawing to win the TV on the last day! Mylynn's name was drawn and he could not have been more excited!
