Are you passionate about politics? So are people around here–and we don’t just mean our government students. Our campus is steps away from the Massachusetts State House at the epicenter of Boston’s dynamic national and international political scene. Our professors are experts in all aspects of government–from public policy to national and international political campaigns to foreign policy–and they practice what they teach. They use their knowledge and connections to mentor and support their students. Experience Political Life Suffolk government students put their knowledge to the test through a wide variety of experiential learning opportunities, from the Massachusetts State House to governments around the world. They conduct and present their own unique research, and work on political polls that gain national notice. As a Suffolk government student, you could: Intern at state, local, and federal agencies, such as the US State Department, non-profits, and NGOs. Work for state senators. Study in the nation’s capital through our connections with The Washington Center; take part in international internships and study through Educational Programmes Abroad; or attend one of our special travel courses where we combine traditional in-classroom education with an experiential travel component. Gain hands-on election experience through the University Pollworkers Project, a unique initiative based at Suffolk. Conduct your own research on topics that matter – and present it at the annual Government Department Student Research Conference, or national student research conferences.
