Sunflower Academy is a Montessori Preparatory school that inspires children toward a lifetime of learning. We also offer before and after school care.

Description

At Sunflower we foster each child’s individual strengths. We provide high level guidance in core education including Math, Reading, French, Geography, History, Art, Music, Yoga and much more; in a fully equipped Montessori environment. We believe each child should develop fundamental principles of education, a love of learning and creativity, and the ability to gain independence and life skills. All our staff are highly educated, creative and diverse individuals all of which hold a Montessori diploma, ECE (with emphasis on Reggio Emilia and the emergent curriculum), Bachelors degrees, First Aid certificates and many years of teaching experience both in Canada and the UK. We are situated in The West Point Grey Presbyterian Church and are very much a community orientated school. Sunflower Academy promotes global and local awareness and fund raising for various charities including but not limited to ‘The Canadian Red Cross’, (sponsored walks for natural disasters) ‘SPCA’ and’ Muscular Dystrophy’. We are the proud sponsors of two children in Columbia through plan parent. We pride ourselves on a holistic approach to education and the values that ‘peace education’ can bring to a community.
