Taking the approach of social entrepreneurship, Newark Science and Sustainability, Inc. [SAS] is a multicultural, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Newark, New Jersey, assisting with the exploration and utilization of sustainable science through educational programs and hands-on training. Our programs include wellness and nutrition education, urban farming/community gardening, eco-art, ecological building, and the exploration and utilization of clean, renewable energy. Our purpose is to ensure that all individuals are given unlimited opportunities to make the most of him/herself. We strive to assist with the creation of self-sustaining communities by creating businesses that contribute to self-sufficiency, and local ownership. We are achieving this by partnering up with residents, Newark-based organizations and the local business community.
