The Swansea Siavonga Partnership is a not for profit partnership between two charitable organisations. Discovery Student Volunteering, Swansea and the Siavonga Nutrition Group based in Siavonga, Zambia. The partnership, established in 2008 aims to build relationships across different cultures and maximise income generation through sharing experiences and learning, supporting children through education and making the best use of the environment to improve health through nutrition. The project has received support and funding from Swansea University to enable groups of students to visit Siavonga and work with some of the women’s clubs, primarily in Kabio, Kabilla and Masopme villages. They have also been involved in activities at Namumu Orphanage. This work has developed each year and in February 2013, the Swansea Siavonga – Partnership launched its scholarship scheme at Swansea University. The scholarship scheme aims to support the education of achieving orphaned children that will enable them to fulfil their potential and generate income to sustain their families. At the launch, Pentrehafod School in Swansea presented a cheque to support two children for 2 years at Matuwa School who are part of the Swansea Siavonga Schools Linking Programme.
