Sydney House is a magnificent guest house that was built in the mid nineteenth century – the Victorian times, when Queen Victoria ruled the land. This elegant house was once a former Vicars house and has now been run as a grand guest house for over 30 years. Sydney House is located in the heart of Plymouth, a beautiful seaside city, just 10 minutes walk away from the modern shopping centre that is Drake Circus, with lots of top name shops under one roof. Walk a little further past the city centre to the historic cobbled streets of the Barbican to see the spot from where the Pilgrim Fathers set sail for America. On up to Plymouth Hoe from where Sir Francis Drake is reputed to have played bowls while the Spanish Armada sailed in to attack England. Travelling in or out of Plymouth you will find that Sydney House is ideally positioned. Close to main roads, train station and ferry port. Plymouth University is a few minutes walk from Sydney House and is a popular stop for visitors to the city. Sydney House has recently been converted in to mini apartments and has been redecorated throughout, keeping the Victorian look where possible, each room has its own identity.
