Description

We live in a great area. Our neighborhoods are full of history, culture, and diversity. I am so honored to be your representative and to work along side you to improve our area. We have unprecedented challenges facing our state and I am committed to working as hard as I can to keep our state moving towards a bright future. My role on the Resources and Health and Social Services Committee has kept me involved in many of the major bills over the last four years, from Senate Bill 21 (oil and gas taxes, I voted no), SB 138 (natural gas pipeline, before the price plunge the current project was the closest we've come, I voted yes), Medicaid expansion and reform, and oil and gas subsidy reform. These are some of the most important issues we are dealing with and I'm proud to have worked to make each bill the best bill possible. I've worked in a bipartisan way to advance important personal legislation, focusing on economic development and efforts to address our chronically high rates of domestic violence and sexual assault. I led the charge for Erin's Law, now the law, which will require that all school children receive personal body safety information. With child sexual abuse rates in Alaska six times the national average, we have to do everything we can to end the abuse and help our communities heal so we can all be stronger together. The plague or abuse and addiction is hurting all of us. I am running to represent you in Juneau as a neighbor and advocate for District 19.
