TELECARE Distress Centres of Canada started in Sudbury, Ontario on October4, 1965. It followed the model implemented by Rev. Allen Walker of australia on 1963 and was the first 24 hour telephone distress line in north America staffed by trained volunteers. since that time, TELECARE Canada has answered the calls of millions. Locally TELECARE opened its lines in July, 1989, providing a crisis line service for the people of the Central Fraser Valley. Since January, 2009, through the use of a toll free number, TELECARE is now available in Chilliwack and Langley and surrounding areas.
