1 Million Cups is a free, weekly national program designed to educate, engage, and connect entrepreneurs. 1 Million Cups is led by more than 300 volunteers in 35+ states, one U.S. territory, and six time zones. It attracts an estimated national weekly attendance of more than 2,500 people.
Every Wednesday morning, one or two early-stage startups present their companies to a diverse audience of their peers, mentors, educators, and advisors. Prior to presenting, the founder prepares by incorporating lessons from the Kauffman Founders School “Powerful Presentations” series, featuring Nathan Gold. Each founder presents for six minutes, followed by a 20-minute question-and-answer session with the audience. Afterward, each startup receives feedback via an audience survey and from the local organizers in their city. The culture surrounding 1 Million Cups is that of a supportive, neutral space welcoming entrepreneurs to be open and honest about their businesses and the challenges they face.

Entrepreneur #2.... You may have seem him last week, but Mikel Bowyer will be bringing the 1MC crowd a new concept for downtown Wichita this week. The ICT Downtown Market will buy product directly from their network of over 65 farmers, crafters and vendors who offer Kansas-specific products. In their artisan department, they will feature breads, sauces, spices, etc. In the educational events department, they will offer chef taught cooking classes, a community garden, and farm field trips. In their community kitchen, there will be a developmental program that will provide up and coming chefs to a place to utilize a commercial kitchen to build their business in a "safety net" environment. It will also be structured to allow other vendors, such as food truck operators and caterers, to rent access to the kitchen. #ictentrepreneurs
