The 17th Teeside is a local Boys' Brigade Company in the Marton, Middlesbrough area. Everyone welcome, past members, current members and anyone else who knows about us.
The 17th Teesside Boys' Brigade company was founded on the 17th of January 1974. The first Captain was Norman Elley with help from Jack Moodie and Sandy Patterson and is now Captained by Colin Martin with the help of numerous voluntary youth leaders. On the first night of opening 104 boys aged 8-18 turned up at the door, surpassing expected numbers. The company now annually enters in Boys' Brigade national competitions including 5-a-side, badminton, chess, table tennis and recently won the national Top team challenge 2013. The 17th also endures the classic British weather and goes on a week annual Boys' Brigade camp. The Boys' Brigade was founded in 1883 by Sir William Alexander Smith, where the first company evolved in Glasgow Scotland, soon to become an international organisation with over 500, 0000 plus members. The 17th Teesside strives to keep the traditional values of the Brigade and promotes them to the Boys when we meet. We meet at 6:00 p.m - 7:30 pm for ages 5-10 yeas, and 7:30 p.m - 9:15 p.m for ages 11-18 at St Andrews United Reformed Church on a Friday night during school term time.
