The Animal Alliance of San Bernardino is a pending non-profit in the state of California to assist in the efforts of providing help and support to the San Bernardino City animal shelter. Through rigorous and comprehensive programs such as spay/neuter, foster homes, rehabilitation, socialization, and our senior to senior program, we believe that ALL animals deserve the right to live, be loved, and have a home to thrive in. We are a group of dedicated individuals who strive to provide the very best veterinary care, along with the training they need to become the animal we know they are. As you already know the city is in need of a comprehensive conversion of the animal shelter. I am proposing to the city of San Bernardino to assume management of operational control, and to lease the property by the establishment of a contract with the City. The plan is to completely renovate and reform the shelter, and have it running on a non-profit/no kill basis. Time-tested programs would be implemented in the shelter conversion and operation which would greatly benefit the animals and citizens of the community. A board of directors has been established that consists of a hand-picked group of individuals to advise and participate in shelter conversion, and management thereafter. They are professionals in veterinary services, shelter design and construction, shelter operations, accounting and financial, fundraising, rescue, and volunteer services. Rigorous and comprehensive implementation of the following programs is at the heart of the new shelter model: Dynamic volunteer corps High-volume, no- and low-cost spay/neuter Harmonious integration of rescue groups and foster care entities Comprehensive adoption programs Veterinary and behavioral programs Pet retention and pro-active redemption Community outreach and education The new shelter will be a thriving center and uplifting place to visit, attracting active community interest and participation. Community involvement will grow through special outreach programs, such as Mobile Spay/Neuter and Senior to Senior Adoption Programs. It is my hope that in the near future we transform the shelter into a shining light of the community … - A shelter in the true sense of the word. -
