We are a full service music production studio. We specialize in working with bands and indie artists who want high end music production. We also compose and create music and audio for use in national TV and Film broadcast.
The Baltimore Recording Co. is about service. It's about creation. It's about bringing to life the music you hear in your head and doing it in a way that not only fulfills your artistic demands but also moves you one step closer to your career goals. We are producers and engineers with unique networks in place to better serve your artistic needs. We have access to the very best session players, producers, and specialized engineers on call to fill any need. You see, we are not "Jacks of all trades". We are specialists and we recognize the value in each of us doing what we do best in concert with one another. The all in one approach is a flawed model and The BRC is different. We have access to any size recording environment you could ask for. Through our unique arrangement with other studios we can serve any need be it a Hip Hop, Alt Rock, Dance Pop, Club, Big Band, Celtic, Bluegrass, or anything in between. As producers and artists we have worked in all these genres over the years not only as players, but also as producers, and engineers. We will not only help you bring your music to life but, serve also a direct conduit to several outlets into TV and Film. BMG, Selectracks, With Lions, and Clean Cuts (Three Seas) are some publishers we write for and and have already placed artists with. We can help you push your music to a place where it will get you noticed. TV is the new radio. Artists and bands get discovered every day by large audiences on a show or in a film. Allow The BRC to help you bring your craft to a new level. Allow us to show you that we care deeply about every project and our only goal is to make recordings that matter. With our focus on emotion and high level performance we make recordings that will stand up to the market, stay true to your uniqueness, and beat the competition.

Amazing tim away from work. After a full 3 weeks with the Flu, then Pneumonia, I AM BACK in the saddle again! Just in time too as I find out my girl and former development client Shaina Scott is on American Idol this coming week. (Her sister Randi Scott is also a ridiculous songwriter with an equally amazing voice) Look for the NYC auditions. AND, current client, brilliant singer/songwriter (I just found out I am not supposed to reveal his name yet...oops. My bad) is killing it on the Voice this season! SO much talent, SO little time. Lots on tap..Some great UFC placements just were announced....the new "Us" album is almost finished...the latest release from Didi Ba is almost finished, and...the re-tooling of the Impact Society show is about to begin with CRUSHIN' frontgirl Reina Williams" at the center spot. Gonna be a great new year!
Nice pre-christmas delivery of music for VH1, and 20 cues including several from my partner in crime Kidd Sparrow destined for the UFC. Great way to go into the holidays!
Great day with the duo "Us" in today. They have a full length coming out and it's really strong. Quirky, interesting, offbeat but so much heart, love these guys!
Getting a batch of tunes ready to pitch for a MAJOR network show. If you've got some great, and I mean GREAT songs, uptempo, positive, emotional, meaningful, heartfelt, relatable songs, PM me and we can chat. Gotta have them by midnight tomorrow.
Here's a link to a project I worked on with J. Robbins @ Magpie Cage Studio. Ya'll know J. from Jawbox and some of his other super creative band outlets. J's also a phenomenal producer and makes great recordings. Here are 2 I mixed for J. The artist's name is Peter Maybarduk and he's an activist/Lawyer/Composer. Follow this link to his site. "Meet me in the Middle", and "Star field below" are the latest releases. Enjoy! http://maybarduk.bandcamp.com/music
We've been in the music business in various capacities since 1988. As players, sidemen, composers, producers, engineers. The one thing that stands out above all else in terms of ingredients for success is not what you'd think, it's not talent. Although of course a level of talent is essential to success in this or any business. It's honor. It's doing what you say you'll do. It's staying until the last hour to be sure what's delivered is what's been promised. That's what we do here at The BRC. If you're someone who thinks short term gain at the expense of your honor and, someone else's pocket is how you "get ahead", then keep steppin'. You're not welcome here.
We just finished mixing the latest single from Peter Maybarduk. Produced and recorded by J. Robbins at magpie Cage Studio, we were honored to mix and deliver this track along with another track for release.
Great session today wit Stuart Hart and Scott Paddock doin' some sweet Beboppin' saxy sax playing for one of the many film projects Stuart is involved with.
Music for some MMA shows and UFC broadcasts. Having fun!
Since everybody else is writing all these Blogs, and articles detailing the process of their creativity, I thought I'd chime in. I read some of these and if one of you reading this has written some of them, then I apologize in advance. I'm sorry if I offend you. Here we go... I want to read how Brendan O'Brian does it. I want to read how Motown hit's were made. I want to read about how George Martin got the Beatles to rehearse their asses off til they sang perfect Harmony on every take whilst the LondonPhilharmonic was pumping away live. I want to read how Dark Side of the Moon was mixed and the endless days of rehearsals the engineers went through to get all moves perfect. I want to read about David Z recording Purple rain. How did they make those incredible Mick Fleetwood drum tones become the sound of Fleetwood Mac? What did Max Martin do to the lush pads he invented and those backing vox with that sizzly air thingie on top? Holy Shit! I want to hear Butch Vig talk about recording Nirvana and taking a raw garage band and helping them become an international sensation changing music forever. Sorry folks, that the shit I want to read about.

I really have to hand it to Jamie @ Guitar Center. She has been amazing. She helped find this AKAI MPK49 and a Pre-sonus monitor station both of which were new in a box albeit last years models. I could not care less about last years model as I am a guitarist in need of a controller. The AKAI does more than I need plus it plays and feels great. The Pre-Sonus (engineers, stop being snobby) is great for me to have multiple speakers up at once to check my mixes. I bought 'em both for peanuts. Thanx Jamie!
Think you cant afford high end production? Not just the tools to create it but, the skill set to make your production come out the way you envision it in your head? Harmonic arrangement, musical arrangement, production experience to guide you through the "stuck points", and finally...The mixing expertise to make the track shine. Inbox me for details on pricing specials and project rates.
LOVE recording with J. Robbins at Magpie. Such a GREAT space. The new "Us" Ep is going to be mind blowing. They are unique, and interesting, but most of all...I believe them when they sing.
Tyrice "Papa T" Dixon hits number 1 on reverbnation with his song "Sally's Garden" for the Baltimore area. Way to go T!!
Special thanx and hearty appreciation go out to my SUPER good friends Joe Loverde and Todd Harvey @ Mission Media. I ran thier studio for a few years and we worked very closely together on many exciting projects. Now, I have just been blessed by them in a most excellent way! Thanx again guys, you have made me very happy indeed.
Had a great meeting today with another great talent. No names yet but soon my pretties, very soon. A roster of talent thats going to make a HUGE dent and help bring attention to our fair city. It's a "WE" thing, and only as a we thing can we achieve our collective goals.
Well folks, it's not the Keystone pipeline....Thank God. However, there is a pipeline coming. It starts right here and goes to every video monitor, TV, movie screen, set of headphones, and audio speaker in the world! It's open to all and, it'll do for you as much or as little as you want it to.
Yes, we in the recording industry do similar things, provide similar services. That being said if we want to elevate our industry than we must pull together. Working together, supporting each other is how we put Baltimore on the map. Artists, this goes for you as well.
Music that matters, for people who care. Love it, live it, be it.
HUGE change is on the way. The BRC is making its move and amazing things are right around the corner. Soon, no spoilers yet....but very soon all will be revealed.
If you're thinking about recording and are choosing where to go, do NOT let hype lead you astray. We have helped develop and guide several very high profile artists and writers. We work with well placed industry folks who actually can get your music to people who CAN make a difference! We don't just say it, we do it! Inbox me for details on prices, and select recording options custom fit to your needs.
If being a Rock Star is your sole motivation, don't call. If being a "Superstar" is your sole motivation, please, go to another studio. If making amazing art, while putting the music first is your priority, than you are so very welcome HERE. If music IS the priority, and communication and developing a real fan base through hard work and sweat equity is something you understand, than please come here! That's what we do... We make music that matters for people who care.
The BRC is very proud to announce that we've landed BRC artist Gabriel Wolfchild a music rep deal with a major player in the Broadcast publishing world. Also, fellow member of the team Chase Cooper's song "This means war" is up for placement with a BMG multiplatinum selling artist. More great news is brewing but we have to wait just a little while longer.....
JEEZ...After a way too long absence from my recording schedule Val Yumm and SR. are BACK! Ben and Matt are coming in Friday to finally finish up their parts. (my fault, I have been so slammed with Hunter Hooligan, a Movie trailer, NFL cues, BRC artist releases etc) Today, I have the privilege of spending a wonderful day editing and getting this 3 song banger ready for a final mix. =8¬D
