Newcastle Arts Centre is pleased to announce the reopening of Pink Lane’s Jazz Café . Join us on Saturday 7th December 2013 as we throw open the doors to host a special opening night of buffet, drink and entertainment to kick start a new era of Jazz Café. We have been working hard all summer to restore and revive Jazz Café so come along and sample the atmosphere at this hotly anticipated event. The late Keith Crombie had a lifetime ambition to establish a popular Jazz Café with a Parisian style, and since it has been closed there has been much public interest in the future of the building. Back in 1982 we rebuilt this building as the first part of the Arts Centre development and have now restored it to life as a city arts venue. The ground floor of Jazz Café will be open Tuesday to Saturday with late nights on Friday & Saturdays. The stylish café bar will be serviced by our own kitchen serving fresh food and drink along with specially curated Jazz play lists and weekly Live Jazz events. It will be a Café Bar by day and a Bar Café at night. The first floor of Jazz café will soon follow as a versatile hub of creative activity. An independent space for arts events, classes, live performance and conferencing will add to the vibrant character and atmosphere of Jazz Café. It will be a much needed second public venue for Newcastle Arts Centre Trust which operates the popular Black Swan Venue, usually fully booked on Fridays and Saturdays. This valued creative space will come alive in the new year and we are accepting bookings for small events, up to 80 people from February next year.
