Sadly, the original Bombay on West Bute Street closed in the early 1980s. It was opened in 1953 by our grandfather Tarrif Ullah, a Bengali Seamen, known as a lascar, with his business partner Nessar Ali. it was the first Indian restaurant in Wales, welcoming in Cardiffian's from all walks of life - businessmen to dockworkers - all had a place where they could enjoy the true taste of he Indian sub-continent. The Bombay brings the true Indian café experience to Cardiff. A place where you can sip Chai, take time over breakfast, spend time with family or catch up with some work over coffee and a snack.
