OFFICIAL PAGE! As one of the oldest children's theaters in the country, TCT has been educating and entertaining audiences for more than 90 years! In 1924, the Junior League of Cincinnati developed a plan to introduce children in Cincinnati to the magic of theater. They created the Junior League Players, now known as The Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati. The Children’s Theatre was incorporated as a non-profit organization in 1947 and over the years evolved into a professional theater company. In 1993, the Board of The Children’s Theatre hired Jack Louiso as Artistic Director, and under his leadership The Children’s Theatre rose to new levels of professionalism and has increased its audience to serve nearly 200,000 children, families and schools each season across Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana. Jack retired in May of 2011, handing over the reins to renowned opera singer and arts educator, Angela Powell Walker. In 2015, Roderick Justice became Producing Artistic Director.

Description

Today, the Children’s Theatre brings art to life for children and the young at heart through three key programs: MainStage at the Taft, TCT On Tour (including WorkShops), and TCT Academy. Our MainStage at the Taft series performed in downtown Cincinnati includes daytime performances for school audiences and weekend performances for the public. Geared toward children ages 4-14, these family-friendly one-hour professional productions feature music, drama, visual arts, and dance as a means of introducing children to the magic of the performing arts. TCT On Tour brings the magic of live theater directly to those who would otherwise be unable to enjoy it. We tour five to six productions each season, serving children of all ages (kindergarten through high school) with titles taken from classic literature, fairy tales, history and other works studied in school curricula. The acting troupe travels with innovative sets, which are designed to be both portable and visually enticing. TCT On Tour prides itself on productions that are both educational and entertaining, as well as being affordable for schools and other venues across the broad spectrum of Ohio, Kentucky, Michigan, Illinois, Tennessee and Indiana. TCT On Tour also includes the WorkShop division, which takes a teaching artist directly into individual classrooms or after school programs, for a more intimate arts integration experience with children from pre-K through 16 years of age. Many of the workshops we offer examine contemporary concerns through the introduction of historical figures, such as Harriet Tubman, Martin Luther King and Langston Hughes; while other workshops bring social topics such as healthy eating, self-esteem and bullying, to life through theater, music, writing, and role-playing. The main benefit of our TCT On Tour WorkShops is to give an individual voice to children who have not previously had the opportunity to express themselves in a public creative forum. TCT Academy offers arts training to children in a variety of formats from five-week sessions for introductory arts makers to our one-month intensive audition-based camp for children with demonstrated talent and interest in the performing arts. The primary objective for these arts integrated classes is to provide students with the tools necessary to become successful adults. Whether the students continue in an arts field or choose a different career path, the skills they develop in these programs can be leveraged and will last a life time. • STAR NKU Intensive is our audition-based summer training program designed to provide intensive musical theater training to talented children ages 9-18. The four week program utilizes nationally acclaimed teaching artists and culminates in a talent showcase where the participants’ newly-honed skills are put on display. STAR is collaboration with Northern Kentucky University’s Department of Theatre and Dance. •STAR Red Bank (formerly stARTs) grew out of the success of STAR and is a two-week intensive techniques training program, culminating in a final performance at the end of each session. This half day summer program takes place in our Red Bank Road facility and is for children who want to explore their interest in musical theater but who are either not able to commit the time or are not ready for STAR. •TCT Academy Classes are eight-week or twelve week sessions of drama, vocal music, and dance classes for students at all levels of ability and interest at our facility on Red Bank Road. Our staff of professionals is teaching children 6-18 years old the techniques and principals behind the art of theater. To educate, entertain and engage audiences of all ages through professional theatrical productions and arts education programming.

Stray Animal Adoption Program Adoptable Animals
Newport , KY 41071 United States

Stray Animal Adoption Program (SAAP) is an all- volunteer, non-profit organization that exists to rescue, protect, and provide care for at risk pets. We are an all-volunteer 501(c)3 non profit organization. We are dedicated to the rescue of animals that are in need of a forever home. Our animals are fostered in homes where we provide love, food, medical care and socialization until adoption into a new loving home. We educate on the importance of spaying and neutering of all pets. We ensure all animals have been spayed or neutered prior to adoption. They are microchipped, up to date on shots and on heartworm and anti-flea medications (as age appropriate). They are ready and waiting to start their new life with their fur-ever family. Could that be you? We need your help to continue our mission. We rely solely on donations and fundraisers. All donations are tax-deductible and 100% of your donation will go towards the rescue, care, and medical needs of the animals.

American Foundation for Suicide Prevention Ohio Chapter
null

The Ohio Chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention has been at the forefront of a wide range of suicide prevention initiatives -- each designed to reduce loss of life from suicide. We are investing in groundbreaking research, new educational campaigns, innovative demonstration projects and critical policy work. And we are expanding our assistance to people whose lives have been affected by suicide, reaching out to offer support and offering opportunities to become involved in prevention. We are increasing the number of community-based chapters, now at 50, with two-dozen more in development. And we have a growing list of friends and supporters leading a grassroots constituency that can advocate for the policies and legislation at the state and federal levels to advance suicide prevention. With a suicide attempt estimated to occur every minute of every day in the United States and over 36,000 lives lost each year, the importance of AFSP's mission has never been greater, nor our work more urgent.
