Rising temperatures are resulting in softening snow! Residential plows will be on the roads tonight after midnight to remove slush, avoiding the formation of ruts when temperatures drop again.

Well, we did an experiment. After we cleaned our driveway Sunday my husband and I hand shovelled our side of the court (in the street) 30 feet down and 10 feet to the middle. Our reasoning was that then the plow would have nothing to fill in our driveway with. Wrong. It wasn't as bad as last year when it was 4 feet high and 6 feet deep into our driveway all the way across but the plow still brought his blade, and all the snow from coming up the hill, into our driveway. He had no reason to bring his plow blade so close to our driveway as we shovelled the street clean. What the heck Barrie. Trying to live without a heart attack. Non of our neighbours get their driveway filled. Just us, the oldest couple in the court. Maybe we have to shovel the street even more.

Ford St. sidewalks between Livingstone and Lillian still have not been done. #11 has pushed their snow from their driveway onto the sidewalk making it even more impassable...this is the route many children, including my own, take to and from school every day. I have to walk my infant son on the road as I cannot get through the mounds of snow with him in his sled. This was an issue last year as well.

Last night waited for over 55 Minutes for the 1A Bus at Park Place to show up. Finally at at 6:53pm one showed up, then 2 minutes later a second 1A showed up. While heading along Huronia near Herrell Avenue the 1B was traveling towards Park Place. So that means that all three 1A/B buses were in the south end, This reminded me of exact same problem happens back in December of 2013. You would think that the people that designed this current disaster of a bus route would have looked at past failures of transit routes and would have avoid this happening again.

City of Barrie: If I give you $1 billion and you stand on a street corner handing out $1 per second, twenty four hours a day, seven days a week, you would still not have handed out $1 billion after 31 years!! Now read on. A VERY BIG NUMBER This is too true to be funny. The next time you hear a politician use the word 'billion' in a casual manner, think about whether you want the 'politicians' spending YOUR taxi money. A billion is a difficult number to comprehend, but one advertising agency did a good job of putting that figure into some perspective in one of its releases. A. A billion seconds ago it was 1959. B. A billion minutes ago Jesus was alive. C. A billion hours ago our ancestors were living in the Stone Age. D. A billion days ago no-one walked on the earth on two feet. E. A billion Dollars ago was only 13 hours and 12 minutes, at the rate our present government is spending it. Stamp Duty Tobacco Tax Corporate Income Tax Income Tax Council Tax Unemployment Tax Fishing Licence Tax Petrol/Diesel Tax Inheritance Tax (tax on top of tax) Alcohol Tax G.S.T. Property Tax Service charge taxes Social Security Tax Vehicle Licence / Registration Tax Vehicle Sales Tax Workers Compensation Tax Carbon Dioxide Tax STILL THINK THIS IS FUNNY? Not one of these taxes existed 60 years ago and our nation was one of the most prosperous in the world. We had absolutely no national debt. We had the largest middle class in the world. Mum stayed home to raise the kids. Dad and teachers were allowed to discipline kids. A criminal’s life was uncomfortable. What the h!!!! Happened? 'Political Correctness', ‘Politicians or both?' I hope this goes around CANADA and beyond at least 100 times!

I can't believe the snow plow didn't come at all yesterday. Everyone on our court had to maneuver through the mess,to go to work this morning. Why?

Published Rosa Maria on 2016-12-19 14:08:41 GMT

Pretty sad that the amount of money we pay in taxes that our streets or side walks aren't plowed! I actually watched a plow go down our street twice today, didn't drop his blade or put down sand.. Extremely disappointed in the city's efforts to clear streets and sidewalks.
