People's library, fair trade cafe, dry goods store & arts space - occasional events & community groups meet throughout the week - stay tuned for updates!
The Commons works from the principle of the 'urban commons' to create a space in Newcastle that community members can use for artistic and creative goodness. We hope that the Commons will be a space where everyone feels welcome to come in, hang out and create. We have fair trade coffee & tea by donation, and a relaxed space for people to hang out with no pressure to buy. The Commons is available to be used by community groups at low cost, and there is an ongoing program of arts & sustainability events. Oh, and an awesome people's library...yikes! There's a lot going on! Get involved! Contact us if you want to volunteer or run an amazing event, via our email address: thecommonscafe@gmail.com Or sign up to a volunteer shift at our VolunteerSpot page. Newbies are always welcome! We'll induct and train you in the space during your first shift. http://vols.pt/oaDEDC Groups and regular events at the Commons currently include: Newcastle Craft Collective, 'With Miss Kate' Cheesemaking, Just Dance, Faith @ the Commons, Untitled: The Commons Writer's Group, Reel Cinema, Real Change and so much more! Peace out Commoners x
