Calgary's first true Nano Brewery, a British inspired small batch craft producer.
The Dandy Brewery is Calgary's first true Nano-Brewery. We produce British inspired ales with lots of love in every mash. Our modest batch size ensures a keen eye to every detail of the process as well as the option to be creative with our recipes and beer styles. Our beers are living beers, available only in 650 ml bottle-conditioned bombers and casks. The living yeast in the unfiltered, unpasteurized beer will continue to work with the premium malt and complex hops from the moment it is pitched until it passes your lips!
Head to your nearest Co-op (any of them, or so we hear) and pick up some Dandies! They are on special this week! Go do it!
December 6th brings forth the anniversary of one of the most vicious and hateful acts in our country's history. We must not forget why, and we must not forget the 14 women. Beer #2 Is the GBD. Golden Brown Dandy Ale. This beer is a tasty beer. Developed in the old world British Pale style, this beer has a darker golden brown colour with a simple yet robust malt bill that provides a strong body. The body is important to stand up to a highly intensive hops schedule of old and new world hops. When we say intensive, we aren't talking complicated, we are talking labour intensive. The Hops are added at fairly frequent intervals throughout the boil to provide a broad range of hop flavour from bitter to aromatic. Although more carbonated than the stout, don't expect the soda pop carbonation of more popular North-American pale ales. This is a nod to the British ale tradition and we are so excited for you to taste it!
It's Friday! Lets have a beer and relax! Another great week around the brewery! Looking forward to sharing some more beer info in the coming days, check back soon for some more info about The Golden Brown Dandy Ale! I think you've all earned it, especially that we are now up over 300 likes! We also want to take this time to give a quick bit of info about where we are at and when beer will be making it's way through the system, into bottles, and on to the shelf... The truth is right now, we can't give a firm date. We love the excitement from everyone and can't wait to give a launch date but at this moment it's not really in the cards. As all of you are now aware, we have been a couple weeks away from brewing, for much more than a couple weeks. Being the first nano, and one of the first licensees under the new AGLC laws means every step of the way is a new experience for us, and for those who do our inspections and approve what we are doing. Overall it has been a great experience with really nice people at every level (municipal, provincial, federal) but that doesn't mean there hasn't been any hiccups, speed bumps or set backs. Nothing major, just small changes here and there that need to be dealt with. As those of you of you who have started any business, I am sure this is of no surprise to you! To answer all the questions, yes we are close, yes our system is completed and running smooth, but yes there are some last renovations, and small changes that must be made. Inspections have been going well and we do truly feel we will be brewing soon.... We have received support from so many amazing people in the art, beer, business, and trades communities and none of this would be possible without any of you, we do thank you times a million! We look forward to sharing the results of our hard work with you soon! Have a great weekend, and please check back soon for updates!
Beer #1: Dandy in the Underworld Sweet Oyster Stout is going to become your favourite summer beer. Dark in colour with a smooth light body, present sweetness, and a touch of roast it is a well balanced beer meant for everyone to enjoy, any day of the week. Lower in carbonation and served cool, this beer is amazingly refreshing and easy drinking especially on a hot summer day. This is a true traditional oyster stout not made with oysters, but to be paired with oysters (or other salty snacks). It comes in on the upper end of ABV for a sweet stout, but still true to form. We can't wait for you guys to share this with us!
Cat is out of the bag about our beers, A sweet Oyster Stout and a rich Pale Ale. Both are going to be tasty. More details on them both, coming up!
A little bit about us in this weeks FFWD!!! Thanks so much Don! http://www.ffwdweekly.com/article/life-style/booze/a-chemist-a-teacher-and-a-chef-walk-into-a-brewery/
