Description

What is the Doghouse? The Doghouse brings the best of the backstage party out into the field of play... it is the undercover venue without a low-key bone in it’s construction and is fast proving itself to be the space where the party people come to get down... a stripped back, top quality essential party space offering the best of everything but nothing more than is needed to make the place rock. Keeping it cheeky and delivering music that ranges from the groovy sexy end of the spectrum through to spanking floor-shakers the Doghouse DJ’s have one thing in common - they’ve all spent as much time in front of the speakers as they have behind the decks and know how to get things moving. Who makes it happen? Like all good event crews the Doghouse is a team of diverse professionals, all specialists in their individual fields; The core team are DJ & producer Lucas O’Brien, international event manager and promoter Danny Rose, DJ & producer Ric Featherstone and booking agent & event manager Sastra Rothfield. Together in partnership with space creators extraordinaire, the inimitable and highly regarded Potent Productions they have come together to create a party space that packs more punch per square inch than is generally decent for a venue of this size ;) Lucas: It’s a rare breed of DJ that you can guarantee will deliver the floor shaking goods in every set and a gift to promoters when you get them on your line-up.. luckily for the Doghouse Lucas has just that pedigree and he’s most definitely in residence.. He’s been rounding up dancefloors and rocking them in the right direction since he started playing techno in the early nineties at legendary London clubs such as The End, Heaven, Club UK and Fabric. As his reputation and profile grew so did his tour schedule, not only around Europe but as far afield as Russia, the middle east, north and south America, Asia and Australia. Today, with two albums to his name and many more collaborative projects in the pipeline, he is one of the most in demand DJs on the international EDM circuit and is showing no sign of slowing; last year alone he played in over 30 different countries bringing his own brand of sexy, groovy, trance-infused techno to clubs, VIP parties and festivals around the world. His role as founder member and resident dance-floor filler puts the international bite in the bark of The Doghouse. Danny: Ask anyone who’s ever met Danny and they’ll tell you he’s a man in the know. A tireless organiser and networker, he’s an individual who knows how to make things happen and has being doing precisely that for over 20 years now. After serving an international party apprenticeship that took him to the far reaches of the globe, Danny returned to London in the mid 90’s and continued his involvement in event production with the legendary independent trance label Flying Rhino. Along side his party activities he ran the graphic design agency Psiberia and extended his connections with the movers, shakers and music makers who shaped a good sized slice of London’s underground scene at that time. The early 00’s saw Danny move to shindig central, Ibiza, to complete his PhD in Putting on Parties on the island where letting your hair down has become an art form. There he started up the night Dantz at luxury club Aura - which fast became a cult night out - as well as promoting a successful series of max capacity nights at world renowned club Pacha. One of the greatest resources a top-rate event organiser and promoter has (alongside drive and balls) is an extensive personal network and the ability to hook up the right people at the right time to make things happen ... On all these counts Danny is more than suitably armed and definitely licensed to fulfill! Ric: Ric Featherstone (aka DJ Rickster) is a music professional in every sense. He started his DJ career 20 years ago playing at a respectable mix of underground parties and big london clubs before becoming rapidly more involved in music production - releasing tracks with cult underground dance music labels such as Flying Rhino, Dragonfly, Spiral Trax and TIP. Ric’s ability to straddle the divide between the underground and mainstream music is no mean feat and one that might see a less creative artist fall between the benches, however Ric has always made it work well - not only for him but also for those who find themselves at the business end of a good sized audio rig when he’s on the decks! After honing his production skills he took things to the next level with a move to the famed Townhouse Studios where he worked with artists such as Tom Jones, All Saints, Bond and The Egg as well as writing scores for film and TV projects including Hustle, Johnny English, Murphys Law and Casper the Ghost. Currently, alongside perfecting his own particular flavor of dance music - which you can expect to hear from him in the Doghouse and is a heady mix of groovy electro and breaks funkily woven into trance infused acid techno! - he continues to produce for other artists as well as developing various side projects such as Tongue and Groove (with Jake Ainley) and Sybarite (with Lucas O’Brien). For a DJ and producer to stay at the forefront of their game for over 20 years it takes deep musical knowledge coupled with a finely tuned dance floor radar and believe me this man can follow the scent of a dancefloor melter like a customs dog in El Dorado International! Sastra: As Barbara Woodhouse showed us back in the 80’s, every pack of wild dogs benefits from a strong woman holding the leads.. and in this case it is the imperturbable Sastra Rothfield.. Sastra cut her partying teeth at the beginning of the ’90’s as a key figure in the creation of record label parties for the highly respected independent label TIP Records. A formidable organiser and professional fixer, by the mid 90’s and on the back of the labels growth and success, she had set up and was running the merchandising side of the business for TIP. Having proved her organisational prowess and not being one to rest on success she expanded her activities and took on responsibility for the merchandising activities of Flying Rhino Records in 1999. 10 years of working with record labels and party organising will bring you into contact with a lot of artists and with a reputation for getting things done it was a natural step that Sastra took in 2000 when she became a full time bookings agent for a successful and varied roster of DJ’s and live acts. Dance-floors and festivals are in her blood and as a fully paid-up member of the international party makers fraternity and a long-term friend of the speaker stack.. few are better qualified to drive this headstrong pack of wild dogs and ensure that their skills are harnessed for the right ends! Graduates with first class honours from the University of Havin’ it .. the Doghouse crew are the pros in the know. Collectively their music knowledge goes beyond their chosen favorites and the genres that they regularly haunt, which is why they manage to create a cohesive and ever-rocking party even amongst the diversity of taste that you encounter in a festival crowd. They’ve rocked out and ripped up dancefloors around the world (on both sides of the decks) since the early days of electronic dance music and between them they have clocked up over 100 years of party experience! It would be safe to say that these guys absolutely know what constitutes a killer party and more importantly they have proved they know how to deliver the experience. New tricks? ...you might not be able to teach these old dogs any... but rest assured they can still teach you a few!
