Welcome to the Doric Bar and Restaurant, Edinburgh's oldest gastro pub. Built in the 17th Century and adapted to become a pub in the 18th century when everything was homemade and locally sourced. Today, we are no different, our produce is still sourced locally from many of the smaller, more specified and more reputable suppliers. Our butcher, John Gilmour, only supplies meat to a few select places in Edinburgh. The menu consists of traditional Scottish dishes such as Haggis, our famous Cullen Skink, and fine food with influences from around the world.

General Info
Our 'traditional' bar on the ground level, refurbished in 2009 to take it back to it's roots, has real ales and whisky as its main focus, shying away from the generic 'boutique' venues which cover the city. Our focus is on traditional service and comfort. We always have a selection of four cask ales on tap, being Deuchars IPA, Broughton Edinburgh Pale Ale, and two guest ales, Stewarts brewery or Caledonian being fairly regular, which are supplied through our very rare traditional Aitken beer fonts. The bar also has a wide range of single malts, varying from the very popular Glenmorangie all the way up to a 30 year old Jura and a 30 year old Balvenie. You will also find a selection of homemade traditional pies and pub snacks. Our restaurant and wine bar upstairs serves our A la Carte menu, and from Monday to Friday, a 2 course set menu for lunch at only £12.00 ( not during August or December). Every Sunday from 12pm we serve two different traditional home cooked roasts with crunchy roast potatoes, seasonal vegetables, rich wine gravy and yorkshire puddings. Alternatively, just sit back with a glass of wine in the wine the bar and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere.Company Rating
