Set on the bank of the Thames, Truly one of London's best kept secret! A proper 17th century English pub - consisting of small rooms, an open fire, low wooden tudor beams, and best of all - an outside wooden terrace.

Overlooking the Thames right where it curls east and west (great for watching the boat race). With the sun shining on the river, people rowing past, walking dogs and pushing babies along the river, you'll feel like you are in The Wind In The Willows rather than central London. At just four feet two inches wide and seven foot 10inches long, the secondary bar room at The Dove is the smallest in any public house in the world. Records show that our famous riverside pub began life as The Doves Coffee House, but switched over to selling beer during the early 1800s. At that time Hammersmith was still rural, far from the bustle of the Cities of Westminster and London. George Izzard, a proprietor of the pub whose tenure lasted from 1931 to 1965, wrote an engaging autobiography with a sadly unimaginative title: One for the Road. Izzard name-dropped celebrity regulars. According to him, Alec Guinness always partook in his namesake stout from Dublin, whereas Dylan Thomas was a fan of mixed pints of mild ale and bitter. it is also said that James Thomson wrote the old proms favourite ‘Rule, Britannia’ in the pub although this has been contested. Our food is a combination of traditional classics (with a twist) and a selection of contemporary dishes.
