The Ethel Mermaids are a merry band of queer misfits, glued together by their love of Divas and Bad Art. Read the long description!
This is a page for us Mermaids and our Mermates to post pics and have fun. In return for your valuable ‘like’ we promise to entertain you, let you know about events we’re involved in, let you know about stuff we make for you to spend your hard-earned cash on, let you know what we love, respond to you, and love you and your weird, weirdness. Bad art brought the Ethel Mermaids together and drives what we do. Bad art is joyful. It’s art that is unencumbered by the value system of “good” and “bad” – so long as it’s got heart and a sense of humour, it’s in our club. We find it, we love it, we make it and we help others to make it. In the offline world we do events and art workshops. We’ve worked with Amy Grimehouse, The National Trust, The V&A and The BFI. We are currently working with LGBT Jigsaw delivering a community arts programme for their service users. If you want a bad art workshop or have an event that could use the Ethel Mermaids touch, email us.
