Description

Welcome to the Fish Market Restaurant's Facebook page. We, the Drakos and Kartos families would like to thank you for taking an interest in dining in our restaurant. While you might find you have to endure a short wait at times, we hope your overall experience is pleasant and most important, we hope that you will enjoy your food. Over the last few years our city has seen many new restaurants come and go. We have made the strongest commitment to serve this community by offering the freshest seafood at the most reasonable prices in Birmingham. We are constantly adding new items to our menu to provide a variety of dishes thus keeping our restaurant a customer's delight. We also provide off-premises catering for Birmingham and all surrounding areas. We specialize in creating personalized menus that can be as simple or as unique as you like. Whether you're looking to have us cook dinner for ten or two hundred, a backyard bbq, corporate event, or a large wedding party, we can do it all. Our food is prepared with only the finest and freshest ingredients. Also, our staff is happy to provide you with the kind of service that will make your special event a memorable one. Seafood remains a popular and healthy choice for a growing number of Americans. The demand often exceeds the availability, making the seafood business a constant challenge. To insure that we have the best product available we have acquired the oldest and largest fishery in town, Empire Seafood. On a daily basis Empire Seafood buys all of the seafood used in our restaurants. Empire Seafood is our federally inspected warehouse where we process, distribute and wholesale seafood all over Birmingham and the surrounding areas. Our suppliers are among the "Who's Who" in the seafood business: Slade Gordon of Boston, MA, Sea Trek of Rhode Island, Central American Fisheries of New Orleans, Bama Shrimp of Bayou La Batre, Earp's Seafood , Jennings Trout of North Carolina and Sigma International of St. Petersburg, Florida, just to name a few. We also utilize the latest trend in the seafood business which is the strong reliance on air freight. Air freight offers the most efficient way to reduce the amount of time that the product is fresh out of the water until it is delivered to us. Our guests enjoy Trout, Grouper, Yellow Fin Tuna, Soft Shell Crabs, Salmon, Trigger Fish, Rainbow Trout, Calamari, Marlin, Snapper, Shrimp, Crawfish and much more. The list is endless. We have been in the restaurant business for many years. Our fathers had their own restaurants and we were actually raised in a restaurant kitchen. Growing up we all thought that after college we would go our separate ways, but destiny kept us together and the Greek in us kept us in the restaurant business. One of the most rewarding aspects of this business is the opportunity we have to get to know our customers, becoming friends and to, over the years, watch their children grow into adult customers. We have been very fortunate to know many fine people in the Birmingham area during all the years that we have been in business. In these years, we have seen many changes in the seafood business. Most recently we saw a drastic change as customers moved away from fried foods to grilled and broiled items. We first introduced grilled and broiled items in 1986. Now these items are 75% of our entrees sold. As customer’s tastes have changed, so have our menus. From seafood pasta dishes to more exotic fish, our menu has become an exhibition of the best the sea has to offer. Welcome to all our old friends and if you are a new friend, you are about to experience the best and freshest seafood available in Birmingham. We look forward to serving you. We would like to thank you for coming to dine with us. If you have any problems, please let us know. You will be doing us a big favor, and while here glance over our fresh seafood market. In addition to the restaurant and market we offer a complete catering menu which includes anything from jambalaya to pasta and more. Keep checking this page for great deals!
