How To Get to The Florians

On Foot: From High Street, walk towards the river, crossing on to Glenuquhart Road. Follow Glenurquhart Roadr to Bught Park. The Florians Theatre, is located beside Bught Park. From High Street to The Florians Theatre is a 20 minute walk. General Info

We are an Amateur Drama club, based in the City of Inverness, the “Capital of the Highlands”, in Scotland. Founded in 1944 for the purpose of entertaining the troops stationed in the town during WW2, we nowadays do about five productions a year. We have our own theatre, converted from an old Nissen Hut, which was formerly a temporary library building, and then a community centre. Over the last few years we have installed tiered seating, using seats removed from the Gaiety Theatre in Ayr, and built a production box to house the lighting and sound departments.It's also a good place for the Stage Manager to put the director during productions, i.e. it keeps them out of the way! We can now seat 96 paying customers, up from the original 35–40 people we managed to fit in when we first took over the building. We originally used “The Green Hut” as a store and rehearsal space, and performed in Eden Court Theatre and on tour. This became uneconomical, so we made a start towards turning the green hut in to the luxurious theatre you can see today. Building work on our new extension was completed in 2004 – we won't be able to fit any more people in, but the new entrance foyer and toilet facilities will prevent the long trek to the caravan site toilets in the winter darkness at Panto time, and the new dressing room facilities make things much better for the actors! The Grand Re-opening took place on Saturday 14th August 2004.
