Nature immersed learning in a gentle social landscape, cultivated by experienced teachers. Unparalleled in learning critical thinking and social skills
Dear Parents, This is the history about how and why I began teaching young children. I was looking for a program to bring my eldest son to when he was a toddler. I began my search for a thoughtful and creative program that would include teaching the social skills I was already working on with him in all of his environments, school, home, play time, everywhere. I searched for a teacher and an environment that would continue to teach the values that I hold dear, speaking and hearing kind words, learning and practicing respectful and thoughtful problem solving skills, and above all kindness at all times. I was seeking a program that taught rather than reacted to the children, an environment that recognized the value of children learning from their errors, not being shamed or made to sit on a chair, which I found to be ineffective in changing any behavior. I wanted my children to feel and learn empathy, accountability and consideration, and to learn the value of taking responsibility for their decisions. I wanted them to feel the joy of being able to correct their mistakes, and the pride that such a deed brings. I sought an environment of inclusion, not the often-typical response of “you can’t play with us!” – A response that is harmful in any setting at any time. After visiting countless programs, (nowhere was too far for the right program), I did not find a program where I could happily with a settled heart bring my child. I yearned to bring a kinder, gentler more joyful day to my child and all those children in the programs I visited and watched. When I couldn’t find what I wanted I created it myself. A mix of Waldorf education, a magical inspiring environment that fed the imagination, a dash of Montessori, and a lot of the Golden Rule, (do unto others, as you would have them do unto you), Linden Hills Programs for Children was created. Throughout this time I have successfully taught my students and their parents a gentler and more peaceful way of growing together. I specialized in teaching children kindness (in words and deeds), manners, thoughtful and respectful age appropriate problem solving skills and virtuous character development. My goal is to provide inspired joyful days, to both parent and child. This is a program and environment for your little one to flourish in.
