The Glade Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC) provides a dedicated and comprehensive service for victims who have been raped or sexually assaulted in the last 28 days. Our services are available to men, women and children who live or have been raped or sexually assaulted in: -Herefordshire -Worcestershire -Kidderminster -Bromsgrove -Redditch -Shropshire -Telford and Wrekin Our services can be accessed via the Police – if you report the assault or by self referral from a victim, friend or family member. To self refer to The Glade please call our 24 hour self referral number 0808 178 2058. This line is operated by specially trained crisis workers who are there to offer support and advice about what services are available. All our crisis workers are female. Our service is free and confidential. (There may be occasions when confidentiality may need to be broken such as: if you or someone else - including a child/children are at risk of harm, if we believe you are likely to harm yourself or someone else or you are a threat to national security). The Glade Services: Referrals For Ongoing and Long Term Support: The Glade works closely with ISVA’s (Independent Sexual Violence Advisors) who are specially trained to support victims of sexual violence and are able to offer practical and emotional support after you have been to the centre. If you report the assault to the police they can support you through the police investigation and if your case goes to court they can support you through the process. The Glade also provides a counselling service for clients who have been referred to or visited our centre. Forensic Medical Examination: If the assault has taken place in the last 7 days you may be offered a forensic medical examination to collect forensic evidence – this will only be completed with your consent. The examination is carried out by a qualified forensic Doctor or Nurse and involves checking for any injuries and deciding what forensic samples should be taken. If you self refer to The Glade and have a medical examination we can store your samples for up to 7 years allowing you time to think about whether you want to report to the police. If you wish to report the assault to the police The Glade staff can assist you with this. Medical Aftercare Services: Part of the examination process is to discuss with you the risk of pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections. If you are seen within the first few days of an assault we will be able to provide you with emergency contraception. This will be provided at the centre.
