Description

Jana Lang HHP Acupressure massage practitioner Reiki Master Lomi Lomi Massage practitioner Who is Jana? Jana is a lover of Life. She is ecstatic about being here at this special time in history on this planet, and feels blessed to be able to offer the gift of enriching bodywork for our changing and evolving bodies and lives. Jana began her journey into the field of bodywork with the inspiration of her mother, now passed, who taught her how to care deeply about the Earth, our bodies, and the preciousness of life. By the time she was 16 years old Jana was already a proficient in Reiki practice, a gentle energetic technique that affords deep relaxation, and was so inspired by the healing response to Reiki within herself and her family that she sought further training in Holistic Health at Grant MacEwan University, receiving her full certification in Reiki, Acupressure massage, and Neurolinguistic Programming, and now has her own practice as a Certified Holistic Health Practitioner. Being present in each moment of life as it happens within and around us is what brings Jana great joy, beyond what she ever thought possible. Dance is Jana's way of moving through life. A dancer for 5 years with Edmonton's Vibe Tribe Gypsy Circus Society, she is enthralled with intuitive dance, and it's ability to heal through using a person's own intuitive movements. Her massages are often flowing, like a dance, often using breath to open, release and relax tension from the body, and give flow and movement to areas of stuckness. She is passionate about creating community, and tending to the networks which hold us as humans together, make us strong, reflect who we are, and heal us. She volunteers as a community organizer for a local Edmonton community, keeping community links alive close to home. To Jana, a person's health is unique, and a precious thing to nurture, learn from, and enjoy deeply. Each person's balance of personal wellness is an ever unfolding and changing process, a process into which it is Jana's pleasure to honor, and engage with in each client. It is Jana's goal to ensure that each person who receives is listened to, received and massaged with tailored sessions to individual body dynamics, leaving each client with the best possible outcomes for their needs. Jana delights in facilitating a playful, joyous approach to life through engaged bodywork and energywork. Blessings to all Beings Grace be within you love and peace be with us all always

General Info

A brief introduction to the practices I offer: Reiki A relatively new practice, founded and developed by Japanese Mikao Usui, this gentle energy transfer technique relaxes one into the the natural flow of energy throughout the body system. Encouraging states of awareness and depth through the emotional and mental aspects, clarity, vision, increased adaptability and movement, increased immune function, pain management, grief and emotional support, rehabilitation support for injuries and decreased healing time, and for some a space into which it may be possible to encounter personal experiences of the numinous. What to expect: This practice is done fully clothed on a massage table, and does not require any specific belief system to receive benefit. Recommended time: 60 mins. Acupressure Massage Acupressure massage is an ancient form of massage using pressure at specific points along the body to influence what are known as meridians, or energy lines (similar to how nerves electrically stimulate body function) to generate balance within the whole body system, including but not limited to organ function, muscular function, and emotional/mental function. Acupressure uses the same system of points as acupuncture, however there are no needles used, only pressure. Pressure during a session should never be painful, although some tenderness may occur to be effective with some kinds of sessions. It is important during an acupressure session to keep in good communication with your practitioner about how much pressure they are using to ensure that you have the best experience possible. Gentle flowing massage strokes are combined with holding points for up to 2 minutes in length, to effect change in the body. The practitioner may invite receivers to breathe deeply to engage and deepen the effectiveness of these sessions. What to expect: Acupressure is performed either clothed or unclothed, on a massage table, and oils may or may not be used to increase the effectiveness of the massage. The practitioner may use essential oil blends, and it is important to inform them of any allergies that you have to any oils. Recommended time: 90 mins. For maximum results, it is best to receive 3 consistent sessions for each issue in order to create a lasting change within the body within a 4-8 week period. Lomi Lomi Massage In Hawaiian, Lomi Lomi means knead knead, or to knead with the hands. The style of Lomi that I offer is from the Hawaiian School of Shamanic Bodywork, and is called Heartworks. This flowing style of massage deeply influences the heart, and accesses natural states of trance through which the mind lets go into nourishing and rejuvenating spaces for both the mind and the body. Each stroke of this massage is inspired by the movement of the ocean waves, flowing against the shore. The receiver is highly encouraged to breathe in a flowing style to fully undertake the experience of being cleansed by the water, and because this style greatly moves lymph and blood through muscles and energy through meridians, a Lomi massage of this style is indeed, a cleansing and renewing experience. What to expect: Lomi Lomi is performed unclothed on a massage table, and uses oils to create it's flowing strokes. Option for chest and belly massage. A Hawaiian blessing is often spoken at the beginning of the session to bring significance, depth and facilitated awareness within the practice. It is highly recommended that the receiver take a cleansing shower immediately after their massage to clear and awaken from the trance state. It is also recommended that the receiver drink water after the session, and more water than they normally would for the next three days after a session to promote excretion of toxins from released lymph and fluid.
