Oops, missed a couple off people off. Thanks to Russ behind the bar, working up a sweat on Sunday, and to the team at BID who provided all the posters and leaflets and did a great job organizing this years festival. That's all I promise, oh just a couple of pics.
Here I am with my longest post ever. Just coming down to earth after the fantastic high of The Jazz and Blues festival and I'd like to review it. Many thanks to the following: Gary Hall, great blues /country singer came down from Preston to open the show,he'll be back. The beautiful voice of Gillie Nicholls accompanied by the subtle tones of Neil Simpson on bass. Then Saturday night Gospel Truth stormed it with people singing and dancing the night away. Sunday started with a bang as Emma Kenworthy and Band of Gold made sure everyone was ready to sing and dance the day away. Sunday night we went"down to the doctors" for some"milk and alcohol" as the Dr Feelgood inspired Malpractice ripped it up and left us breathless, can't wait to get them back. Monday came and so did local leg ends! Steve Hayes and Les Hunt. The sun shone and a packed pub sang along. The festival closed with Holly Lucas, Stuart Duthie and Dan the drummer who gave us: Rock, rockabilly and the blues to send us home happy. Thanks to everyone of them for a great weekend. Now I have to give a massive shout out to my team: Josh, who worked his butt off on all 3 days. Dawn, who gets better as it gets busier did 2 days. Pete, Jon and Hayley all put in a tough shift and lastly Jan, the cleaner, who turned up each morning to a pub looking like a bomb site and just got on with it. I hope I. Haven't bored you but there's one final thank you. To all of you! The hundreds of people who came and sang, danced, laughed, chatted to each other, drank most of my stock and made it all worthwhile. Thank you and see you all again soon. XX
And so it begins, Gary Hall playing a happy blues song - honest!!
It's official, if you're thinking of having a heart attack in Newcastle /Hartshill. This is the best place to be. Our defibrillator has now been fitted as we do our bit to help the local community.
