The original building dates back to the 1830’s when it was the residence of merchant Lobov and his family. It went through many enlargements through the years becoming the St. Petersburg Railway Club in 1912. During soviet times, it went through reconstruction to host the House of Culture from 1936 until 2000 where singers and poets performed live. Abandoned after a destructive fire in 2005, it was bought and restored to its glory days. As The Official State Hermitage Hotel, this building comes back to the social and cultural life of the city.
